Experience

SENIOR DESIGNER
Employer: Microsoft (Managed services contract with Ten Gun Design)
Dates: 12.2018–Present

Currently, I’m the Senior Designer for minecraft.net, the online presence for the Minecraft game franchise. When I began, I assisted in the migration of Minecraft.net to Adobe Experience Manager and helped shift site design responsibilities from Stockholm to Redmond. Since this transition, it has been my responsibility to identify and evaluate user friction points and test solutions that improve Minecraft news and information access and ease purchase funnel flow. Additional daily duties include the design of marketing pages for new games, events, and franchise updates. I receive design guidelines, strategy, and creative assets from the Stockholm and Redmond design teams and work with a dedicated engineering team to incorporate and adapt these materials to support the game franchise through Minecraft.net.

SENIOR VISUAL DESIGNER
Employer: Amazon (contract through TEKsystems)
Dates: 03.2018–10.2018

On the Amazon Devices Marketing team, I designed and produced 70 screen placements for the Amazon Insider Onboarding campaign, consisting of static and animated tips segmented and pushed to new tablet users. I created a style guide to support ongoing Insider campaigns and contributed weekly to the design, copy editing, review, delivery, and QA of Insider and Sign-On Screen content. I also designed and drove the overall style of on-site campaigns for Amazon devices.

SENIOR VISUAL DESIGNER
Employer: Amazon (contract through FILTER LLC)
Dates: 10.2017–02.2018

I joined the Amazon Voice Shopping team to help with design and production through the Holiday season. I created site placements for a variety of campaigns, like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and related marketing assets. After the New Year, I created social media campaigns and collaborated on several creative and strategic pitches. During this time I redesigned a multi-device onboarding email campaign.

SENIOR VISUAL DESIGNER
Employer: Microsoft (Managed services contract with Allovus)
Dates: 03.2017–09.2017

As a Senior Visual Designer on the Windows Design Group Design Support team, I assisted various WDG teams with design needs that were either beyond that team’s abilities or bandwidth. This included creating conceptual illustrations, developing interaction and motion design, editing images, and working on UI and web development projects using Microsoft design systems and web frameworks.

ART DIRECTOR
Employer: Oracle
Dates: 09.2013–03.2017

At Oracle, I supported clients on the Oracle Responsys platform, a cross-channel customer experience orchestration tool. Working closely with a team of developers, designers, copywriters, and strategy experts, I designed and oversaw lifecycle and triggered email campaigns, as well as ad hoc marketing touches for brands like REI, Amazon, and Verizon. It was vital that our emails told a compelling and aspirational story that created an engaging and on-brand experience that increased open rates and drove product sales.

SENIOR DESIGNER & LEAD DEVELOPER
Employer: Goss Creative
Dates: 12.2005–09.2013

Goss Creative specializes in email marketing, content-managed web sites, and corporate identity. As a designer and front-end developer, I worked on projects for clients that included American Express, MTV, Scholastic Books, and Deutsche Bank. In addition to email marketing, we created and produced banner campaigns, landing pages, web sites, direct mail pieces, and performed multivariate email testing.

ART DIRECTOR
Employer: Built NY
Dates: 09.2004–12.2005

Built NY is a design studio that creates totes, bags, houseware, and kitchenware. I was enlisted by award-winning product designer, and friend & colleague, Aaron Lown, to develop their online presence, e-commerce storefront, and email marketing. During that time I also helped develop identities for new Built NY brands, designed packages and hang tags, created print collateral, and oversaw photo shoots and press checks.

WEB DESIGNER
Employer: Victoria’s Secret Direct
Dates: 10.2004–04.2005

As a web designer at Victoria’s Secret Direct, I designed online promotions and promotional web sites, email marketing, and updates to the Victoria’s Secret website. Duties included design, HTML production, image retouching, and campaign support through banner ads and emails.

Head OF COMMUNICATION DESIGN
Employer: KIDI | Parsons School of Design
Dates: 03.2000–07.2003

At KIDI I supervised faculty and defined the curriculum of the Communication Design department. I taught foundation and sophomore classes, organized lectures and field trips, oversaw the yearly senior gallery show, promoted the school at guidance days throughout Japan, and prepared students for their Parsons transfer interview in order to shift their undergraduate studies to New York.

ART DIRECTOR
Employer: Oven Digital
Dates: 06.1997–02.2000

Hired for broadcast design and to direct 3D animations, my responsibilities soon shifted to designing banner ads, web sites, CD-ROMs, and presentations. I was later responsible for a team of designers and animators producing web sites and rich media. I was sent to help open the San Francisco office and to hire the SF team. Clients included MTV, News Corp, Tiffany & Co, HarperCollins, and MoMA.
